What is co-insurance?
A co-insurance is the amount you contribute toward your medical bills when you make a claim under certain benefits. Unlike an excess, a co-insurance is a percentage value (e.g., 20%). This means you pay for 20% of the medical bills. You pay the co-insurance in addition to the excess on your policy.
Not all benefits have a co-insurance. There’s list of benefits that do.
Benefit | Co-insurance |
---|---|
Out-patient mental health medication | 20% |
Routine dental care (on the Silver and SilverLite plans only) | 20% |
Complex dental care | 20% |
