Frequently asked questions about medical providers
Answers to the most common questions can be found here, but feel free to get in touch and speak to our team. We’d be glad to help.
In what countries are most of your claims?
Here are the countries where we receive the highest volume of claims:
- South Africa
- Kenya
- Malawi
- Botswana
- Zambia
What are the key and well-known hubs for anything other than routine medical treatment?
Well known hubs for serious or complex in-patient treatment include:
- Johannesberg, South Africa
- Cape Town, South Africa
- Lagos, Nigeria
- Nairobi, Kenya
- Cairo, Egypt
Do William Russell members in Africa travel to these hubs for treatment?
Yes. It’s not uncommon for people to visit regional or national capitals for in-patient treatment, or even fly to a well-known centre of medical excellence to receive their treatment.
Is the use of local strategic agents unique to William Russell, and also to Africa?
Our use of local strategic agents is typical of all health insurance providers operating in Africa. In fact, it’s a necessity.
The African continent is vast and largely remote. It would be impossible for any pan-African insurance provider to maintain a wide, comprehensive network of medical providers.
Using local strategic agents means we can tap into local knowledge, secure quick admissions and treatment, and obtain the best clinical outcomes for our members.
Can members use the William Russell network for out-patient treatment?
For out-patient treatment, we encourage our members to pay-and-claim. Members can seek out-patient treatment at any hospital or clinic in Africa; it doesn’t have to be at one of the 5,000 hospitals in our network.
