We live in a data driven world. And it’s surprisingly easy to give away personal data and leave yourself open to potential fraud.

2 million lost each day In 2016, the UK lost £2 million as a result of financial fraud* and the threat of cyber fraud is growing year on year.

Any interaction you have with a brand, organisation, or social media requires the exchange of information between you and the company. For example, when buying something online, you will share your name, email address, payment details and probably your home address too. If you use social media then the site could have access to your location, photos, name, email address and friends, to name a few.

Make sure you look after your personal data and stay fraud smart. This article describes our commitment to keeping your data safe and offers tips on how to protect your information.

Here at William Russell we take keeping your information safe very seriously. We care about respecting your privacy and safeguarding your personal data. We’ve updated our privacy notice to reflect the new and strengthened rights in relation to your personal data, and the legal grounds for using it.

What information will we ask for?

Personal information

To provide our products and services to you, whether you are enrolling with us, making an adjustment to your plan or making a claim, we will only ask you for the minimum information to enable us to process your request.

We will need to confirm your identity – for example, we might ask you for your customer ID, policy number, name or address. Our requests will usually be made by phone by one of our team or by emails from a registered @william-russell.com email address.

We will never ask you for any of your passwords, banking PINs, or other personal financial data or information that is not relevant to your request.
