Medical Insurance Nurse

Becoming a nurse was, for me, a childhood aspiration that came true later in my life. I began my studies in nursing while living in Canada as a mature student in 1995, with three children at home! Making that work was always going to be a challenge, but it’s a time I look back on very fondly. After graduating and obtaining my nursing license, I took on another challenge and moved to the UK, where I started my clinical nursing career.

I worked for several years at The Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, southern England, where I specialised in ENT & maxillofacial nursing, with some occasional orthopaedic work on the wards. I later transferred to Frimley Park Hospital, also in southern England. There, I trained and worked in day theatres.

When I joined William Russell, I could instantly tell that the team had a different way of treating members. We have the human touch. The service our members receive is friendly, helpful and personal.

from the Medical team

One day, I had the opportunity to move out of clinical nursing and into a health insurance environment as an in-house nurse at Towergate Chase Parkinson. Later, I took a position as a case manager and I’ve worked in health insurance ever since

I’ve had the privilege of working and studying alongside wonderful colleagues, including at health insurance companies such as Heailx and Aetna. But it’s at William Russell where I find some truly remarkable people who are dedicated to helping others. The world is changing fast, and more than ever in the world of private healthcare. So it feels good to be part of a team that makes a positive difference in our members’ lives.
