International Underwriting Manager

Working alongside our management team, you will have a voice in determining the direction of the company and will contribute to market growth and expansion.  You and your team will underwrite group and individual plans for new business and renewals; will provide analysis of our existing book of business; will use your expertise to devise and propose product enhancements and innovation; and will research to determine new markets and demographics.

You will work directly with colleagues from Allianz, analyzing, presenting and discussing current performance and loss ratios; and forecasting to negotiate future product enhancements and pricing points.

You will be involved in business-wide projects, including our IT transformation programme.

This is a broad role, which will challenge you to utilise all of your existing knowledge, and to learn new skills.

We need a commercially minded International Underwriting Manager who is experienced within our market, and who has the ability and drive to be instrumental in the success of our company.

Minimum Entry Criteria:

  • 10+ years’ experience in health/protection underwriting
  • Experience with using underwriting modules in Dynamics, Salesforce or equivalent CRM
  • Supervisory experience
  • CII qualified or equivalent

Tester

Reporting to the Test Lead you will work as a member of the IT Team to ensure that development, configuration, and system releases are delivered successfully to the business. This role would suit an experienced testing professional who is self-motivated and passionate about continuous improvement.  As a Tester you will be responsible for Test Case creation and execution and appropriate implementation of testing methods.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review and analyse system specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with other team members and departments to develop effective strategies and test plans.
  • Execute all level of testing (System, Integration and Regression) and analyse results.
  • Evaluate Product Code according to specifications.
  • Design and develop manual/automation scripts when needed.
  • Report bugs and errors to Line Manager.
  • Detect and track software defects and inconsistencies.
  • Conduct post-release/ post-implementation testing.

Requirements:

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the company’s success.
  • Ideally ISTQB certified (Preferred)
  • Python Programming language.
  • Working knowledge of test management Software (e.g., Microsoft Azure Test Plans, Zephyr for Jira, qTest)

Junior Marketing Specialist

We require a Junior Marketing Specialist to support our team to continue to raise the company’s profile and reputation as an insurance provider of international standing.

The marketing team is taking an increasingly central role at William Russell, and we’re working on several projects and marketing channels simultaneously. We require additional support, in the form of an ambitious Junior Marketing Specialist, who wants to develop within a role, to help with delivery and execution of these projects and channels.

Responsibilities include:

  • Building webpages on WordPress using our library of custom fields and optimising those pages for SEO
  • Building and maintaining the company’s library of creative assets
  • Creating assets and preparing organic posts for social media
  • Developing creatives for us in branded collateral and marketing channels (e.g., display ads, social media promotions, email campaigns)
  • Writing/editing copy for webpages, social media promotions, and email campaigns
  • Preparing email marketing campaigns for our members, brokers, and leads
  • Assisting the Creative Lead with designing illustrations and icons

We’re looking for someone with experience and skills in marketing, art working and/or website maintenance. You must be competent with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, have practical knowledge of HTML and CSS, good understanding of on-page SEO, and experience with WordPress websites. Experience with social media and SEO tools such as Hootsuite and SEMrush is a must; experience with a CRM such as HubSpot, Salesforce or Dynamics is a plus.

Perhaps the most important attributes for this role are enthusiasm, willingness to learn, and attention to detail.

The position is full time, and you must be able to commute to our offices in West Surrey a minimum of two days per week. All applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.
