Whether you have a health, life or income protection plan, you are safe with William Russell. None of our policies exclude swine flu, whether a pandemic is formally declared or not.
All our Global Health plans will cover you for:
- In-patient or day-patient treatment and tests.
- Parent accommodation if you have a sick child who is also covered by a Global Health plan and who needs to be kept in hospital as an in-patient.
- Emergency evacuation through CEGA, our emergency assistance company, if your condition is life-threatening and you need to be evacuated to more specialised facilities.
In addition, our Elite Silver, Elite Gold and Elite Platinum plans and our Essential Care Plus plan will all cover you for:
- Out-patient treatment including GP and specialist consultations, treatment, tests and prescribed drugs received as an out-patient.
Our Essential Care plan and the Elite Bronze plan will cover you for:
- GP and specialist follow up consultations, treatment, tests and prescribed drugs received as an out-patient, following in-patient or day-patient treatment and received within 90 days of discharge from hospital.
Please note that cover is provided up to the benefit limits stated for each plan and subject to any excess or co-insurance that may be applicable under your plan.
Our Global Life and Income Protection will cover you
Please note though, that Global Income Protection covers long-term leave from work due to sickness. So you would have to be off work for more than 3 or 6 months, depending on the deferment period you choose, to benefit from the replacement of your salary.
Answer:
We will not provide health, life or income cover if you remain in, or travel to, a country that the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) has advised its citizens to leave. You will be covered in all other areas, provided they are within your area of cover and not excluded or restricted by your area of cover.

For your own peace of mind and well-being, please also check with the national Government and local health authorities, especially if you are living in or travelling to a country where there are infections.
Refund with the Global Travel plan
If you take the FCO’s advise not to travel to a country that it has advised its citizens to leave, we will refund the unused travel and accommodation paid in advance (less your excess, and up to the cancellation and curtailment benefit limit).
