July 09 - New age limit of 54 for moratorium policies

We have set a maximum age at entry of 54 for moratorium applications. From 1st July 2009, applicants aged 55 – 64 must complete a fully underwritten application form.

We have produced a FMU vs. moratorium help-sheet to help clients decide which type of underwriting is best for their particular medical situation, and to assist you when advising them. Remember, fully underwritten policies are available as an alternative to moratorium underwriting, with a 3% saving to the client!

July 09 - Changes to policies for residents of Asia Pacific

New direct billing facility at Quality Healthcare clinics in Hong Kong

Global Health Elite plan clients in Hong Kong with a nil excess will be able to enjoy cash-free access to medical care at Quality HealthCare Medical Services. There is no additional cost for this benefit. However we are not able to extend this facility to clients whose plan has an excess.

Reduction of direct billing premium surcharge in China

We are pleased to announce an expansion to our providers in China, plus a reduction in the premium surcharge from 10% to 7.5% on 1st July 2009. This facility is still available with a nil or $50 excess.

Orchid premiums rise

In line with the ever increasing cost of expatriate medical treatment in Asia, we are increasing our Orchid premium rates by 10% for all renewals and new business after 1st July 2009. This will only affect residents of Bali, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Singapore and Taiwan with area one cover.
