How to apply for a Global Income plan
We will require your fully completed, signed and dated application form, a certified true copy of your passport, (with signature), and an original, recent utility bill, credit card or bank statement. The bill or statement must not be more than four months old.
Who can certify your passport?
Your passport must be certified by your intermediary (provided he or she holds an intermediary agreement with William Russell Limited), or by a banker, lawyer, serving police officer, embassy official, chartered accountant, notary public or medical doctor.
They must certify that they have met you, that the photograph is a true likeness, and that the photocopy is a copy of the original document.
The certifier must sign over an official stamp and print their full name address and occupation.
If you have a PO address
The purpose of having to provide a utility bill or statement is as proof of your address. If your utility bill or statements are addressed to a PO Box, please provide a letter from your employer certifying that you are an employee of the company and your address. If you are self-employed we can accept a letter from your accountant or banker.
Upon receipt of this documentation, we will confirm our medical requirements.
We can no longer accept faxed application forms If you wish to continue to fax application forms to us, we can confirm our underwriting requirements based on the faxed copy. However no cover will be granted without us having received the original application form.
Your occupation must be non-hazardous.
If your occupation is not 100% office based, you must provide us with a full job description. Depending on the risk your occupation poses, we reserve the right to decline to offer cover, or to accept your application subject to an increased premium, and/or special terms.
Pre-existing medical conditions
The Global Income plan will not pay benefit in respect of a claim you make for a pre-existing condition. A pre existing medical condition is any medical condition or related condition that existed, or that ever required treatment, medication or advice from a medical doctor or medical practitioner, or that was diagnosed, or that you knew about, or should reasonably have known existed whether or not a medical doctor or medical practitioner had been consulted, or for which symptoms first appeared, prior to the commencement date of your Global Income plan.
When we receive your application form, copy passport and job description, we will send you a letter confirming the medical requirements, if any.
Our medical requirements
The application form asks questions about your medical history. It is important that you make a full and accurate declaration about your medical history.
If a medical is required, we will send you the necessary forms. You can arrange to have your medical examination done locally provided the doctor holds western qualifications and can complete the report in English. Once your Global Income plan is in force you may claim reimbursement of any medical tests we have required. The maximum amount we can refund is £325 or $520 or €520. Reimbursement is also limited to reasonable and customary charges we would expect to pay in your particular location.
Our Acceptance Terms
Once we have received all the medical evidence we require, we will assess your application and, if we accept it we will issue an Acceptance Terms invoice which will advise you of the terms at which we can accept your application.
We may impose special terms if there are medical reasons for doing so, or we may decline to accept your application at all at our sole discretion. We may also load our standard premium rate if there are reasons to do so.
Once we have issued our Acceptance Terms invoice you have 60 days in which to pay the premium. If your state of health changes in any way between completing your application form and the commencement date of your cover you must tell us. Any medical condition arising during that time will not be covered by your Global Income plan.
How to pay your premium
Premiums can be paid annually by cheque or draft drawn on a UK bank and payable to William Russell Limited, or by credit or debit card. Alternatively you can pay by semi-annual, quarterly or monthly instalments by credit or debit card. We accept VISA, Mastercard, AMEX, Switch and Delta. You can also pay by direct debit if you have a sterling policy and pay the premiums from a UK bank account.
There is a 5% discount if you choose to pay an annual premium
Upon receipt of your premium
When we have received your premium we will commence your cover and issue your insurance documents.
Your insurance documents
Once we have commenced your plan we will send you your Certificate of Insurance in duplicate and a copy of the Global Protection plan agreement. If you are in agreement with the cover provided, we ask you to sign both copies and return one copy to us.
30 day money back guarantee
If you are not entirely satisfied with your Global Income plan, simply return your documents to us within 30 days of the commencement date and we will cancel your cover from inception and give you a full refund of your premium - less any medical fees we have reimbursed you with.
